At Daniels Trading, each step in the trade execution process is performed by an expert group of commodity brokers and trade desk staff. With the ability to complete the first steps of the trade execution process in-house, the dt Execution team is able to efficiently execute complex transactions, including multi-stage contingency orders, spreads, straddles, and more. While Daniels Trading eagerly performs these difficult transactions, many commodity brokerage firms will not. To understand why, let’s examine exactly how a commodity trade execution is completed.
- You contact a commodity broker to place a contingency order, and outline the market conditions that must be met before your order is actually sent to the futures market.
- The broker monitors the futures markets on your behalf, waiting for the parameters of the order to be met, and contacts the clearing firm’s order desk.
- The order desk then places the order, which is sent to a clearing firm trader who executes the commodity futures or options trade on your behalf.
- The order desk is notified of the trade’s execution and notifies your commodity broker, who notifies you.
